Important Milestone
Today we hit an important milestone. We purchased the building in which the cafe and ice cream store are located. While we have had our roots in Ventnor for 20 years with the Carisbrooke Inn our entry into the food and ice cream business has been a long and challenging path.
We started eleven years ago when we leased the former Mento’s location and opened Mento’s Ventnor. After a few years we struck a deal with Bob Mento to purchase the location on on Ventnor Ave. When that deal fell apart in 2018 we found our current location at 5216 Atlantic Ave. We merged our ice cream shop (Mento’s South Philly Italian Ice) and our cafe (Carisbrooke Cafe) and opened North Beach Cafe & Creamery. We initially leased the building but had plans to purchase it in early 2020. Of course Covid hit and sent those plans out the window. So here we are in 2022, and have finally achieved our goal of owning the property which we operate in. The stars have finally aligned and we are now her to stay and proud to be part of the Ventnor community and Ventnor business community.
There are many people who helped us get here but one in particular we want to thank publicly. I hope she does not mind. This journey would have been immensely harder if not impossible without the help of Stacey Jaskol. She has in many ways shared the ups and downs and crazy turns of this journey and Agnes and I can not thank her enough for the encouragement, advice, and friendship through what can only be described as insane at times. I can honestly say I do not think North Beach Cafe and Creamery would be here if it were not for Stacey. Thank you. Thank you Thank you.
